Clear the end tables in your living room or family room. Make a deliberate decision about what you would like on these spaces.
Pay attention to the type of stuff that has ended up on these tables. Do you sit on an armchair to go through magazines, catalogs, or the mail and then leave the items here? Do you sit here to read or knit and drink a cup of tea; only the mug gets left behind?
Will the spot stay cleared or do you need to practice the habit of removing items when you stand up so to maintain the space?
