Stress can clutter our time, thoughts, and emotions. While there will always be things beyond our power, becoming aware of situations that we can change, allows us to gain control. Sometimes, bringing awareness to a stressful situation can also illuminate a solution.
Is there a situation where you often feel like your chasing your tail – you’re always running a couple minutes late, you have no food in the house when you are trying to eat more healthful meals or spend less ordering food?
Now that you’ve identified the situation, consider what events lead up to the circumstances. If you know it takes thirty minutes to get somewhere, do you account for the wiggle room necessary to put on your coat, start the car, park, walk into the building, etc.- or, do you leave thirty minutes before you need to arrive?
Can you think of five possible solutions? They don't all have to be viable, some can be silly, exaggerated, or improbable as a way to stretch your creativity and to break you out of the narrow thought, "this is the way it will always be."
