Yesterday, you cleared off all or part of your kitchen counter. Today, you want to put away the things that you've decided don't need to sit out in the open (as well as anything that found its way to this cleared space over the past day).
As you put things away, ask yourself why they ended up on the counter in the first place. Do kitchen gadgets end up on the counter because their drawer or cabinet is too full to fit them? Does the mail end up on the counter because you don’t have a place to put it when it comes into your house?
If you have more than one situation to puzzle through, write down the task (“create a place for incoming mail”). Writing down the tasks forces you to clarify the problem or what needs to get done.
Does this task need a third day? Problem solving, tomorrow.
