Do you save orphaned items? The sock without a mate; the charger to the phone you no longer have; the solitary earring. Use that lonely sock to dust, see if a friend could use the charger, sell the earring for scrap or toss if it’s not silver or gold.
If you hold onto orphaned items (you know that sock will show up if you toss its mate), then give them a grace period before tossing them. Oftentimes, we simply overlook that we got rid of the item that we still have the plug or cable or instruction book to.
