Stage 4: Decision Overwhelm

“There are too many decisions.”

What’s happening

Decluttering has become mentally exhausting.

You’re surrounded by good things:

  • useful

  • meaningful

  • high quality

But not necessarily right for your life now.

Every item raises questions. What if I need it later? Should I sell it? Will I regret letting it go?

The problem isn’t the amount of stuff. It’s the weight of deciding well.

The belief shift

Decluttering isn’t about getting rid of things. It’s about deciding what belongs in your life now. Once that becomes clear, many decisions become easier.

Your first step

Choose one small space. Ask yourself: How do I want this space to support my life now? Write the answer down.

Then look at the items there and ask: Does this support that purpose?

You’re not decluttering yet. You’re creating decision context.
