The guide that takes you through the process of finally tackling the catch-all room you've been avoiding (minus the overwhelm) so you can create a functional space that serves your current life.

This is a compass rose.

Does this sound like you?

You have a room or area in your home that's become a catch-all for items you couldn't decide about when you were sorting through them. And now, well, you feel overwhelmed every time you think about tackling this space... even though you've already decluttered some of the main living areas of your home.

But in "that room" you know there's sentimental items, inherited belongings, and abandoned projects. You want a step-by-step system that prevents emotional overwhelm while helping you make decisions about "useful but unused" items. Ultimately, you want to transform that room into a functional space that serves your current life - a guest room, home office, craft room, a space for fitness...

Introducing the Decluttering "That Room" Implementation Workbook

You know the room. It started with good intentions but became the place where "maybe someday" items went to live. It's the space that makes your mind go blank every time you walk in because there's just... SO. MUCH. STUFF.

This isn't a room full of obvious junk. These are "good" things—useful items, sentimental pieces, abandoned projects, inherited belongings. Each item represents a decision you weren't ready to make at the time. Now you're ready, but you need a clear path forward.

This comprehensive guide is specifically designed for women who have already tackled their living spaces and are ready for the harder emotional work of decluttering their catch-all storage space.

What makes this guide different?

Most decluttering advice treats "that room" like any other space. But years of deferred decisions require a completely different approach—one that addresses both the practical overwhelm and the emotional complexity of items that have been stored for years.

This guide provides:

  • Emotional preparation strategies to handle sentimental items, inherited belongings, and abandoned projects without getting derailed

  • The Decision Zone system that prevents overwhelm by removing chaos from your decision-making environment

  • Complete decision-making frameworks for when your brain goes blank on difficult items

  • Family boundary scripts for handling relatives who want to "help" by convincing you to keep everything

  • Motivation systems specifically designed for the "messy middle" phase when progress feels slow

  • Maintenance strategies to prevent the room from becoming a dumping ground again

Frequently Asked Questions

Hi, I'm Susan

I'm the founder of A Less Cluttered Life and the creator of Decluttering That Room

My parents were people who kept everything... even if that meant we had to walk sideways to move around some of the rooms. While every room was packed with stuff, "that room" would have been my brother's former bedroom where boxes nearly reached the ceiling and the only way to walk into the room was to haul stuff out to the hallway.

It was emptying my parents' house that encouraged me to look at my own possessions and habits for organizing what was essentially clutter.

The experience of decluttering was so empowering, that I shifted from teaching to professional organizing so I could help other women create homes that supported their lives. I sincerely hope that my efforts help you.
